Facebook event:

Mariano Cardoso is a 22 year old student at Capital Community College in Hartford, with a pending deportation. He is set to graduate with an Associate’s Degree in engineering this May.

One day at a family barbecue, Immigration and Customs Officers arrested him with no warrant and now he faces deportation. Mariano was brought to the United States illegally by his parents, but he has never committed a crime, received any assistance… from the government or taken out any loans to pay for his college education. Mariano is an undocumented American student seeking to achieve his American dream; the United States is the only country he has ever called home.

If this interests you, consider joining Stop the Raids at its demonstration to support Mariano and help him stop his deportation order. The demonstration will take place, Saturday, March 12th at Noon at Capital Community College (950 Main Street, Hartford) in the Walter Markiewicz Community Room 206. Guest speakers will include Luis Cotto, Hartford City Council Minority Leader, Werner Oyanadel, Acting Executive Director of the Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission, Lorella Praeli, State Coordinator of CT Students for a DREAM, and Mariano Cardoso Jr. himself!

Transportation to and from the event will be provided. Meeting point will be by Mather driveway starting at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. For more information about the event, please contact Theresa Meehan at theresa.meehan@trincoll.edu or Sandra Gonzalez at (347) 684-0445.
