The Council passed resolution #39 last night.
According to the Council Review, which is provided by Hartford 2000 and the Hartford Public Library, they first amended the resolution so that the 4th Whereas clause reads as follows (addition in bold type) “During a recent region wide search for the perpetrator of a serious crime, a large number of our citizens, who were in no way involved with said crime or the perpetrator, were tentatively identified as undocumented residents and arrested…”
This differs from the fine reporting of Heather over at Urban Compass. We’ll have to get a confirmation on the exact text.

The change you refer to is, as far as I understand it, part of the fifth “whereas,” and as Councilman Painter recited the suggested amendment, he misspoke, adding to a bit of confusion.
In addition, I don’t see that particular amendment reflected in the text of the resolution Luis published.
Which specific differences in the resolution or its amendments might you be referring to?

In the Council Review report by Hartford 2000, it seems they mistakenly refer to the changes in the fifth Whereas as the fourth.
The discrepancy exists in the language of the fifth Whereas. Council Review says it is, “…a large number of our citizens, who were in no way involved with said crime or the perpetrator…”
The printed resolution says this: “…a large number of our citizens, unassociated with the crime…”

Thanks. That council review text isn’t available online, then - just in the print version, I take it?
I would imagine the correct version is what we witnessed getting passage during the meeting, as Councilman Painter recited it. Fortunately, either way, the concept behind both phrases is the same.
