The true story, told through dance, of the journey of Carlos Bulosan, a manong, one of the thousands of men who came from the Philippines during the late 1940’s and 1950’s seeking their fortune so that they could send support back home to help their families. Set to American jazz of the era, this performance tells the universal story of leaving home to find home. Tickets: $20 general admission, $10 seniors, Charter Oak and Let*s Go! Members, $5 students.

We will once again offer our exciting summer organic gardening project for children called “Putting Down Roots in Hartford.” Come, help us kick off the planting season with a short ritual, dinner and manual labor (so that we can all “weed it and reap”) and the premiere of filmmaker Judith Helfand’s compelling documentary Cooked about the racial and environmental implications of the 1995 Chicago heat wave. $5 suggested donation.
